Volunteer

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for ECAR!! We couldn't do what we do without the help of our dedicated volunteers. We are always in need of compassionate and committed people who promise to always put the well-being of the cats first. The following are some of the areas we could always use help with:

Cat Caregiver

Caregiver positions are available at Petco in El Cajon, Petsmart in Santee, Petsmart in El Cajon as well as our private catteries. This involves playing with the cats, snuggling with them, feeding, cleaning litter boxes, and cleaning their cages. It usually takes about 2-4 hours per shift. We have shifts available throughout the day and evening every day of the week. Becoming a Cat Caregiver involves signing up to take a specific shift (or shifts) each week.

Trapper

Think you have what it takes to become a feral cat trapper? We need you! This is a challenging volunteer position but if you are passionate about animals it can also be the most rewarding. Trapping involves late night work since we trap after dark. This is a time commitment. Although you won't be trapping every weekend, we usually trap over the course of a weekend. You should be able to deal with people, difficult situations, be comfortable getting very dirty, and you should be passionate about spaying and neutering. If you can handle all of that, it is an incredible experience and we also have a lot of fun.

Handy people who can build stuff

We are looking for people to help us with carpentry, building projects and repairs. This includes expansion and repairs of our catteries, building ramps and cat trees (bring your creativity!), building enclosures and cages, plumbing, electricity, laying down epoxy floors, and much more! If you can help with any of these types of tasks, let us know!

Fundraising

Do you have a great idea for a fundraiser? We would love to be a part of that! Fundraising events not only raise money for ECAR but they also spread the word about what we do.

Administrative

If you are interested in helping but not sure you want to work directly with animals, we are always in need of volunteers willing to make a commitment to help us with clerical work! This includes, but is not limited to, computer skills, data entry, phone calls, coordinating volunteers, etc.

Technical/business

We are constantly trying to simplify things so we can be more efficient. If you are experienced in this area, we could use you! This includes, but is not limited to, skills or experience in web design, web management, social media, PR, marketing, networking, etc.

Other

One of the things that makes ECAR great is that we are a grassroots organization of people from a diverse range of backgrounds. If you have experience or skills in a specific area or industry and you would like to put those skills to work helping our cause, we want to hear from you!
