We aren't your average animal rescue.

Established in 2002, East County Animal Rescue is a grassroots effort of volunteers who are passionate about helping animals in need within the San Diego community. Many of our volunteers have dedicated their lives to helping animals.  As the only rescue in the area executing high volume Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), we are most often found out on the streets of the community going to great lengths to spay and neuter animals. Often, we are the organization that steps in when the others can't or won't.

Trap-Neuter-Return

Our focus is on saving lives through spaying and neutering. Trap-Neuter-Return, or TNR, is our primary activity.

Providing Medical Care

We provide life saving care to animals in need. Our medical fund provides medical care and surgery to animals who need it the most. Just last year alone we had to provide amputation surgeries to 10 cats involved in accidents.

Spaying & Neutering Pets

We assist the public with spaying and neutering their pets. Last year we spayed and neutered well over 1,000 animals. Spaying and neutering is the core of what we believe in and what we do.

Finding Homes

Every year we find safe and loving homes for hundreds of unwanted animals.

A second Chance

We rescue animals from bad situations, like this kitten who lived her life with her siblings in a closed fish tank with no litter box and little food. After a good, soapy bath she slept in a bed for the first time.

Life Care

Our no-kill policy leaves us with the lifetime care of unadoptable cats from unique circumstances. Lucky, pictured above, could not be returned to his feral family because his front leg had to be amputated due to a horrible injury and he is too feral for adoption. Lucky will remain with us for life.
